Most patients are discharged from hospital on the day of surgery, this is because there is little, if any, discomfort following antral washouts and/or inferior meatal antrostomies.
Some patients are discharged on a course of antibiotics but many do not require any post operative medication apart from occasional paracetamol.
The risk of post operative bleeding from this surgery is rare but can be experienced any time in the first ten days. Any patient experiencing this problem should contact the surgeon or present to a hospital emergency department immediately.
